  • Based in Beijing office, this position reports to President, China, and is responsible for:
  • Seamlessly integrating communications & stakeholder relations to help deliver based on the company business priorities, communications, crisis management, corporate social responsibility and responsible care initiatives;
  • Leading the effective planning, development and implementation of a holistic government and NGO stakeholder relations strategy which supports company brand, and increasing company profile with key policymakers in order to be well positioned to face potential regulatory changes, helping protect and enhance company’s brand and reputation;
  • Monitoring policy and trends in regulations and geopolitical developments to help identify evolving opportunities and to help mitigate potential risks;
  • Supporting the development of growth options in and with China market development initiatives, working closely with the corporate development market development teams, supporting the execution of China Strategy.

  • Defining and executing Stakeholder Relations strategy within company guidelines.
  • Maintaining and deepening engagement with key government agencies (central and provincial) and industry associations and partners.
  • Being a member of Global Stakeholder Relations Team and helping with the capacity building for the region, i.e. develop a regional GR Team network for Asia Pacific.
  • Leading RC activities related to market development initiatives in China, mainly in cooperation with the key government agencies (central and provincial) in line with the corporate RC strategy.
  • Acting as the primary contact for media enquiries and manage media relations relating to China; leading internal and external communications. Working closely with the Global Team contributing to company Intranet as well as internet and social media sites.
  • Identifying, recommending and planning company’s participation in key industry events to ensure a strong presence of company as a leader in the industry.
  • Providing timely insights on China’s current and emerging energy and industry policy and its potential impact on company’s activities and objectives in China.
  • Ensuring appropriate support to the Marketing and Logistics organization with respect to clarifying regulations and market intelligence and how those impact on our business or how they will impact on the cost structure of producers and consumers in China.
  • Supporting the country president in identifying and developing business opportunities in and with China using corporate development screening tools.

  • Undergraduate degree required and a post-graduate degree in a commercial/technical field or MBA or international relations would be an asset.
  • At least 15 years of business development and government relations-focused role(s) with proven business acumen.
  • Experience in public policy development and in successfully negotiating complex and controversial issues would be an advantage, as would strong contacts and knowledge of the procedures and/or protocols of China government office.
  • A deep appreciation of business development and experience in developing energy, chemical projects and joint ventures, with the proven ability to lead, influence and build broad support for initiatives at a senior level of government agencies and partners.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, managerial and above average computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to confidently and credibly interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Cross-cultural agility and fluency.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English.
  • Willingness to travel on a regular basis (approx. 30%).
