You will own end-to-end procurement for global maintenance and sustaining capital expenditure projects, including core production line overhauls, technology upgrades, environmental compliance initiatives, and strategic sourcing of critical spare parts. Through professional supply chain management, you will ensure our “steel giant” operates safely, stably, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management:
- Formulate and implement long-term procurement strategies for sustaining CAPEX categories, including blast furnace relining, rolling mills, refractory materials, motors, and automation spare parts.
- Oversee the full procurement lifecycle for annual overhauls, scheduled maintenance, and CAPEX modification projects from technical specification review and tendering to contract execution, on-site delivery, and final acceptance.
- Build cost models for key equipment and services, conduct detailed cost breakdown analysis, and identify sustainable cost optimization opportunities.
- Partner with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to align technical requirements and commercial terms, ensuring projects stay on track for timeline, quality, and budget.
- Lead emergency procurement for unplanned equipment failures, establish rapid response mechanisms, and minimize production downtime.
- Develop and manage a high-performance supplier base with strong technical capabilities and responsiveness, with a focus on cultivating qualified suppliers for import substitution.
- Build long-term strategic partnerships with core suppliers and negotiate annual framework agreements to secure priority capacity, favorable pricing, and dedicated service support.
- Regularly evaluate supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and service (QDCS), and implement targeted improvement initiatives.
- Analyze spare parts inventory aging reports periodically and develop actionable plans to dispose of obsolete and slow-moving stock.
- Deliver regular procurement insights and reports to leadership to support budgeting and strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or other related engineering disciplines.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of procurement experience in the manufacturing industry, with at least 3 years specifically within the steel or metallurgy sector
- Technical Acumen: Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings; familiarity with steel production processes (Sintering, Ironmaking, Steelmaking, Rolling) and the operating conditions of core equipment.
- Commercial & Analytical Prowess: In-depth knowledge of tendering laws and procurement contract terms; excellent negotiation and cost analysis skills
- Resilience & Agility: Ability to thrive in the demanding environment of continuous steel production and handle emergency procurement tasks calmly and effectively.
- Influence & Collaboration: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to effectively balance technical and commercial interests.
