Senior Compliance Manager (prefer 20+ Years Experience)

The Department
Our Legal & Compliance Division provides comprehensive legal support and advisory services to the company’s business and operational units. Within the division, the Compliance Department ensures robust control systems are in place to comply with all applicable regulatory requirements. The department plays a pivotal role in driving the Club's Compliance Framework across key business areas and ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards.

The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing and guiding the full implementation of the company’s Compliance Framework across business units (BUs) through collaboration with senior BU leadership. This role requires deep expertise and strategic leadership in compliance matters to ensure that the Club’s operations meet regulatory obligations and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the Compliance Department’s efforts to implement the company Compliance Framework across all BUs by providing strategic advice and operational oversight to senior BU Management.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to BU leadership, providing expert guidance in the development of comprehensive compliance programs and risk management strategies.
  • Oversee the documentation and development of controls and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that ensure compliance with the Club’s regulatory framework.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews and assessments of BU processes to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide thought leadership by conducting in-depth legal research and analysis of the regulatory landscape affecting the Club’s key compliance areas.
  • Ensure the identification, documentation, and communication of key regulatory obligations across all BUs, ensuring they are incorporated into BU operations.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the Compliance Obligations Register, ensuring that it remains an up-to-date reflection of regulatory requirements.
  • Design and execute robust compliance monitoring programs, providing detailed written reports to Club and BU senior management, with a focus on actionable insights and follow-up activities.
  • Track compliance remediation actions, escalating overdue items as necessary, ensuring a timely and efficient resolution.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Club, acting as a senior compliance representative and trusted advisor.
  • Champion and promote a strong compliance culture across all BUs, aligning with the Club’s overall risk management and governance strategy.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Law, Business, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in legal and compliance functions within a large corporate (like pharmaceutical, manufacturing) or top-tier consultancy, with a proven track record in risk assessment and business process optimization.
  • Extensive experience in compliance, governance, and regulatory affairs, with a demonstrated ability to influence and guide senior management teams.
  • Prior experience in sectors such as Conglomerates, Property, Consumer, or Hospitality is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese (written and oral).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex compliance projects, and engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with an ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, actionable plans.
  • High level of proficiency in compliance tools, risk management software, and data analysis platforms such as MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Tableau.
