Overall Purpose:
 
Reporting to the General Manager, the Commercial Director will provide senior level direction to the Commercial Team. This involves managerial, analytical, administrative reporting and oversight within the China Commercial Function. The role would be important in informing and setting the overall commercial strategy. Coordinating sales activity in partnership with the sales management, bringing prioritization and alignment between the commercial team and other departments. While providing senior level representation to key customers and industry bodies will be a requirement, professional team management is the highest priority for this role.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
 Strategic Commercial Planning
 
  • Responsible for working with the Commercial Team and the General Manager to prepare the Commercial Strategic Plan which then feeds into the overall China Strategic Plan.
  • Keeping the Strategic Plan up to date over time with changing market conditions and adapting the business priorities to achieve the greatest long term, sustainable commercial growth.
  • Setting of the Sales Budget and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Commercial Team in agreement with the General Manager.
 
 Sales Team Management
 
  • Direct Management of the Sales Managers & day-to-day oversight of the Sales Support Teams.
  • Coordinating and chairing regular effective commercial meetings to communicate and prioritize commercial activities. Following up on agreed meeting outcomes.
  • Responsible for establishing systems which coordinate, collate and analyze the key regular sales reports
  • Interpreting the monthly sales reports and customer reports to look for trends and opportunities which may be relevant to support sales growth. Always looking to expand upon success and to focus the business resources to maximize growth.
  • Ultimately accountable for enforcing company policies on expense control limits and others to maximize the efficient use of company resources in supporting sales growth.
 
 Personnel Development
 
  • Encouraging and Mentoring the Sales Management to improve and develop to work proactively.
  • Developing a Technical and Professional training program to develop a sales team which is highly skilled and well-regarded within the Chinese bakery market.  Coordination with other departments
  • Coordination and prioritization of R&D, Supply Chain, Production requirements with other Senior Managers in the business to use company resources towards projects and customers which have the highest commercial value.
 
 Customers & Industry Organizations
 
  • When beneficial or required, be able to represent the company at a senior level with Key customers and Industry Organizations.
  • The ability to resolve conflict and negotiate mutually beneficial solutions to customer problems.
 
Personal Specification:
 
Requirements
  • Excellent spoken and written English as well as Native Mandarin Chinese.
  • Proven experience of leading and managing a commercial team to growth.
  • Recent experience working in the Chinese Bakery Industry, preferably in bakery ingredients.   The experienced KA manager and leadership of commercial team in FMCG as well as for industrial manufacturers and Food Service etc. also welcomed.  Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to management.
  • A professional style which emphasizes the development and encouragement of others to succeed. Enabling human resources is available to work proactively and responsibly within a supportive team culture.
  • Experience developing systems and tools for effective team monitoring, management and reporting.
  • A hunger to success and deliver results we can be proud of.
 
Desirable ++
  • High Level Business, Sales or Technical qualification relevant to the role or company.
  • Experience setting high-level, long-term sales strategies with a track record of success.
  • The ability to demonstrate a high-level understanding of business analytical tools such as SWOT, Risk/Reward Analysis or other relevant approaches.
