General Manager – Global Sourcing (Shanghai)
Location: Shanghai, China
Position Overview
A well-established international home improvement and consumer products group is seeking a General Manager, Global Sourcing (Shanghai) to lead its Asia-based sourcing operations. This role is responsible for overall leadership of supplier management, product development, quality assurance and operational execution across multiple sourcing markets in Asia.
The position will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders across merchandising, quality, design and supply chain functions to ensure products are sourced responsibly, manufactured to required standards, and delivered in line with business objectives. The role also oversees day-to-day operations of the Shanghai office, including financial management, team leadership and process governance.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all functions of the Asia sourcing organization, including sourcing, product development, quality, compliance and operations.

Develop and execute regional sourcing strategies to balance cost, quality, reliability and supply continuity.

Evaluate manufacturing capabilities and cost structures across multiple sourcing regions including China, Vietnam, India, Indonesia and other emerging markets.

Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships across key product categories, ensuring alignment on quality standards, delivery performance and compliance requirements.

Oversee supplier selection, onboarding, performance evaluation and risk management processes.

Partner with cross-functional teams in Merchandising, Quality, Design and Supply Chain to support product readiness and delivery.

Manage the operating budget for the sourcing office, ensuring financial discipline and resource efficiency.

Monitor sourcing, quality and delivery metrics; identify risks and implement corrective actions as required.

Ensure adherence to company standards related to ethical sourcing, environmental responsibility and workplace safety.

Lead, develop and retain the local management team, fostering accountability, collaboration and professional development.

Represent the organization in supplier, regulatory and industry engagements as required.

Establish and refine operational processes, systems and policies to support scalability and continuous improvement.

Prepare business updates, performance reviews and recommendations for senior leadership.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations or related discipline.

Minimum 10 years of experience in global sourcing or supply chain management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams and multi-country supplier networks in Asia.

Strong understanding of product development, sourcing processes and vendor management within retail, home improvement, building materials or consumer goods sectors.

Solid financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control.

Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.

Good knowledge of Asia-based manufacturing environments, trade practices and logistics.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or related field.

Experience supporting North American or international retailers, ideally within home improvement, building products or consumer goods categories.

Ability to work effectively across cultures and influence diverse stakeholders.

Experience in supplier diversification and regional sourcing strategy development.

Familiarity with ethical sourcing, CSR and sustainability frameworks.
