We are seeking an exceptional Vice President of Biology to lead the discovery biology strategy and execution for our neuroscience pipeline. Reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), the VP of Biology will provide scientific leadership across target identification, target validation, translational biology, and preclinical development.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific track record in neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases, combined with significant industry experience advancing therapeutic programs from discovery into development. This individual will build and lead a high-performing biology organization while driving innovation across multiple therapeutic modalities.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Leadership
Define and execute the company's biology strategy in neuroscience and related therapeutic areas.
Lead target identification, validation, mechanism-of-action studies, and translational biology efforts.
Drive preclinical development activities supporting IND-enabling studies.
Establish robust in vitro and in vivo pharmacology platforms to evaluate novel therapeutic candidates.
Integrate emerging scientific insights and technologies into the drug discovery process.
Portfolio Development
Provide scientific leadership across multiple neuroscience programs.
Evaluate new therapeutic opportunities, platforms, and external innovations.
Partner closely with chemistry, DMPK, toxicology, clinical development, and regulatory functions to advance pipeline assets.
Prioritize portfolio investments based on scientific rationale and strategic value.
Team Leadership
Build, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary biology team.
Foster a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Recruit and develop world-class scientific talent.
External Engagement
Establish collaborations with leading academic institutions, research hospitals, and key opinion leaders.
Represent the company at scientific conferences, advisory boards, and partner meetings.
Conduct scientific due diligence for external licensing and partnership opportunities.
Qualifications
Education
PhD in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related life science discipline.
Postdoctoral training from internationally recognized institutions is strongly preferred.
Experience
Minimum 10+ years of biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry experience following PhD completion.
Proven track record leading drug discovery programs in neuroscience, neurodegeneration, neuropsychiatric disorders, or related CNS indications.
Experience advancing programs from target discovery through preclinical candidate nomination and IND-enabling studies.
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and managing scientific organizations.
