Head of Payment Technologies

Principal Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic technical direction for the Core Payments Team, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Lead the design and architecture of payment systems that are scalable, reliable, and secure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, business analysts, and other technical leads, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Drive the development of new payment features and enhancements to existing services.
• Ensure the highest standards of code quality and system performance through rigorous testing and continuous integration practices.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in the payments industry to maintain PayPal's competitive edge.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in building and operating large-scale, high-volume payment systems.
• In-depth knowledge of payment gateways, transaction processing, and fraud prevention technologies.
• Strong expertise in relevant programming languages and technologies (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications in relevant payment industry standards (e.g., PCI DSS).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with data analytics and machine learning for payment risk management.
