Market Analyst - Plastics

Responsibilities:

• Conduct primary research and ongoing analysis for the China market, including market dynamics, producer capacities, supply/demand balance, trade balances, pricing, production costs, individual company analysis, market analysis, consumption analysis, and associated econometric modeling.
• Utilize previous experience in the chemical and plastics market industry to deliver sustainable, profitable market advisory services.
• Build and maintain personal relationships with key industry figures in the plastics and financial sectors to gather market information. Provide insightful reports and analysis to benefit existing and potential clients.
• Respond promptly to internal and external client inquiries and serve as a resource for client brainstorming and discussions. Contribute market expertise to proprietary projects as needed.
• Develop and present market presentations at client meetings and conferences. Actively market the company's capabilities in direct interface meetings.
• Provide regular, neutral, and objective price inputs and written analysis for Market Advisory Service reports.
• Develop and maintain a fundamental understanding of basic model templates of supply/demand, econometric price forecasts, and trade grids. Update the production capacity database and supply/demand balances.
• Pursue and develop unique analytical approaches that provide value to clients. Challenge existing analytical frameworks and conventional wisdom for continuous improvement.
• Interface regularly with global team members to ensure analysis consistency.
• Identify new business opportunities for sales and consulting follow-up. Support sales and consulting to secure new client subscriptions and renewals.
• Collaborate with the plastics business team to achieve team goals.

Qualifications:

• Ten or more years of chemical industry experience, particularly in polyethylene and polypropylene. Commercial experience is desirable.
• University degree required; degrees in chemical engineering or chemistry preferred. An MBA or other graduate degree is desirable.
• Ability and willingness to establish and maintain personal relationships and develop a high degree of trust at multiple levels within a client’s organization.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to identify and articulate core issues within complex problems and deliver insights and solutions.
• Demonstrated team player; ability to internalize organizational strategy and objectives; experience in team leadership with the ability to motivate for collaborative success. Driven for action and results.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when safe to do so.
