Controlled Release Category Manager

As the Controlled Release Category Manager, you will be the driving force behind our technically-led business and innovation values. Your role is key in steering our technical development team towards solving customer challenges and creating new concepts in controlled release drug delivery. Collaborating closely with our Technical Development Managers (TDMs) and Pharma Technical Centres, you will lead the charge in transforming conceptual ideas into tangible market-ready solutions.

Your primary focus will be on delivering the environment of customer-focused formulation development, harnessing company's extensive ingredient portfolio. You will inspire and guide our TDMs in their responsibilities and energy to aid our customers in finding and optimising controlled release solutions, with a particular emphasis on oral solid dose forms. Your communication skills will drive the creation of captivating presentations for internal and external training, enabling our teams to stay at the forefront of ingredient technology and opinion-leading within the industry.

To truly deliver in this role, you'll need to maintain a customer-focused approach, working closely with our Technical Development Managers to understand the unique needs and challenges of our clients. This customer-centric perspective will be vital in tailoring our controlled release solutions to meet and exceed their expectations. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a robust project pipeline, ensuring that our innovative formulations are technically and commercially viable. Your strategic capabilities will be instrumental in shaping the future of controlled release technology to and with our customer base.

The position is responsible for:

1.      Co-create global strategic aims (TF) and support Tech BD

2.      Work with commercial lead to drive: Suppliers & Pipeline

3.      Report on objectives/status

4.      Build and maintain subject matter expertise

5.      Co-create internal technical training

6.      Drive, where possible, innovation

7.      Author – Advertorial, white paper, poster…..

8.      Bring new projects to PTC

9.      Travel to customers’ research & development and manufacturing sites to promote, support, and encourage Principals products and company Concept use.

10.    Lead application discussions with technical and sales teams using the various technical information tools available.

11.    Recommend formulation ingredient and process selection, based on customers targets.

12.    Prepare and present technical information (oral and written) for both internal and external training seminars and workshops and product promotion events.

13.    Coordinate training for technical development and sales teams and other personnel as required.

14.    Collaborate with Technical Marketing Team for coordinated promotion of new products and initiatives.

15.    Prepare Key Project reports for Task Force and Senior management.

16.    Use CRM software tools to track project progress and resource utilization, in particular pharma Technical Centre Technical Requests and Concepts.

17.    Liaise with Principals’ technical counterparts to discuss strategic project activities and coordinate joint technical meetings with customers. 

Required Education/Experience:

•   Degree in Industrial Pharmacy/Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
•   Minimum of 10 years experience in pharmaceutical laboratory or industrial pharmacy environment with an emphasis in Controlled Release formulation development in Oral dosage forms or other related dosage forms.
•   An excellent understanding of the pharmaceutical development and registration process.
•   Strong technical presentation skills at an academic or industry forum required.
•   Excellent oral and written communication skills required
•   Strong ability for customer interfacing
